“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up “— Thomas Edison

Never get comfortable with the word “Failure” which is generally and casually used by society for every shortfall from the expected result.

We tend to repeat this word internally and somehow convince ourselves that yes there is something called failure and maybe I am one too.

There is nothing called “Failure”.

Then if not failure then what is the word for every missed opportunity? Every shortfall?Every unfulfillment of expectations?

You can call it “Falling”

Every great inventor or sports athlete had one characteristic in common the inherent ability to fall get up iterate and fall again but never consider themselves as a failure in the entire process irrespective of the opinions of others.

I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”- Thomas Edison

So how to make the change of using a different term for failing in all our talks internal and external, To do so consider this, Failing is something we all want to avoid but falling comes naturally, Falling and getting up has been our job since childhood even we were learning to walk that’s what we should do fall but fall faster and get up as opposed to lying on the ground and start complaining.

One should embrace falling because falling is taking a risk, that’s trying, You only fall when you push the boundaries. Remember, Life is a constant pursuit of expanding your comfort zone. To get over your fears of falling the most practical option is to keep expanding your comfort zone push your boundaries.

This is not a single-person strategy you can apply it to your environment as a whole when you see a fellow person “Failing” Don't just start yelling, Why did you fail? What have you done? Instead, use the words wisely, You can say Okay, Try again. Or How can I help you fix it? What you do here is encourage people for risk-taking, You encourage people to try, You encourage them to take some more falls but not quit, And as a result, you will be getting the best out of them as a true leader.

We should learn to give ourselves and other people more opportunity to fall, Everyone who has achieved a significant position in life has also fallen a gazillion times in the pursuit of achieving it. But they have reached such a position because at least somebody said “Alright, you seem to be close, Maybe try again”. And sometimes that’s enough to turn someone from a failure to someone who will get up and try again.

In this world of entrepreneurs, wanderers, risk-takers, and misfits the best service that we can do for ourselves is to just replace the word Failing with Falling in our own self-talk and suggestions to others maybe just by this simple hack we might have more winners than quitters. Try.

Inspired by — Simon Sinek's talk.

Never get shy from that one more try.
